Punk Rock
Hot Water Music is an American punk rock band formed in October 1994 and based in Gainesville, Florida. Gruff/raspy vocals, but a nice melodic punk sound.
Aside from a breakup two breakups (Aug - Oct '98 & 2006 - 2008) they've kept the same line-up, adding Christ Cresswell in 2017.
New single Drawn out June 7, 2023.
Favorite Tracks: Exister, I Was On a Mountain, and A Flight and a Crash.
Bad Religion is an American punk rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1980.
Probably the most well known & overtly politically motivated bands around. Catchy "oohs & aahs" line their tracks, getting those ear-worm melodies stuck in your brain for years to come.
Favorite Tracks: Hear It, 21st Century Digital Boy & You Are (The Government).
Rancid
Rancid is an American punk rock band formed in Berkeley, California in 1991. Long-time punks, everyone has at least HEARD of Tim Armstrong, and what an influence he's had on Punk Rock. Dabbled in Ska for a while, but mostly sticking to Punk & political themes/topics, like most punk bands.
Favorite Tracks: Fall Back Down & Ghost of a Chance.
Millencolin is a Swedish punk rock band that was formed on 12 October 1992. Millencolin's brand of punk is a bit more carefree & fun sounding. A few songs are a little more somber, but they're largely what I refer to as "Happy Punk."
Favorite Tracks: Fingers Crossed, Chameleon & Ray.
Five Iron Frenzy is an American band which formed in Denver, Colorado, in 1995. Best known for playing ska punk music characterized by an offbeat sense of humor and prominent Christian themes, Five Iron Frenzy was one of the pioneering figures of the Christian ska movement which emerged with ska's mainstream revival in the 1990s.
Mostly a fan of their newer material, Engine of a Million Plots.
Favorite Tracks: Battle Dancing Unicorns with Glitter & It Was A Dark & Stormy Night.
The Aquabats are an American rock band formed in Huntington Beach, California, in 1994.
Started out as a Ska band, they've moved more rock, but are very humorous & silly, entirely non-offensive. Their latest album was a Bandcamp release, Kooky Spooky...In Stereo, which sticks to their light hearted & happy music.
Favorite Tracks: Pajamazon! & Captain Hampton and the Midget Pirates!
Canadian singer and songwriter, started writing music and put out two albums at 16 & 18: Let Go & Under My Skin. With seven albums out, there's plenty to like from this self proclaimed bratty punk, but can't say I'm the biggest fan of her more mellow material.
Favorite Tracks: Everything Back But You, One of Those Girls, & Bois Lie.
Less Than Jake is an American ska punk band from Gainesville, Florida, formed in 1992. Armed with a Sax, Trombone, drums, guitar & bass, Chris DeMakes & Roger Lima have a great blend of vocal talent to carry you along through their haphazard melodies. Another "Happy Punk" band, they've been around for a good while, doing it right.
Favorite Tracks: Faction, History of a Boring Town & Last One Out of Liberty City.
The Bouncing Souls are an American punk rock band from New Brunswick, New Jersey, formed in 1989.
I discovered them in 2003 with Anchor's Away, "Happy/Drunk," fast punk melodies, with the occasional political riff (thankfully they stay away from that scene, for the most part).
Favorite Tracks: Highway Kings, The Day I Turned My Back on You & Ten Stories High.
